Table and Roles
The seats, wind roles, and the position of jongh.
Each player gets a fixed wind role at the table: East, South, West, or North. That role determines the seating order and who opens the round.
Determining places
Use a wind draw to assign the roles:
1 tile of each wind is shuffled face down.The player who draws
East chooses their seat at the table.South sits to the right of East.West sits opposite East.North sits to the left of East.Jongh
East starts the round and is called the jongh. The jongh starts with 14 tiles and therefore also opens with the 1st discard.
Own wind
Your own wind is the wind role you were given at the table. It stays the same during the round.
Prevailing wind
The prevailing wind is the wind of the current round. That term mainly matters for point counting and multipliers. Most importantly, remember that own wind and prevailing wind are not always the same.
Playing order
The turn always moves in this order:
East -> South -> West -> North
Quick check
- The player to the right of East is always South.
- The jongh is always East.
- The seating order does not change in the middle of a round.
