Points Counting
A worked example of counting, multiplying, and rounding.
This page walks through 1 hand completely from the opened combinations to the rounded outcome.
Example hand
A winner has:
1open poeng of5 bamboo1closed kong ofEast1straight of3-4-5 numbers1straight of6-7-8 circles- a final pair of the own wind
- the winner draws the winning tile themselves
In addition:
- the hand is
toei-toei-foei - there is
1own flower
Step 1: set points
| Set | Value |
|---|---|

2 straights | 0p |
Subtotal set points: 34p

Step 4: multipliers
| Situation | Multiplier |
|---|---|
Toei-toei-foei | 1 |
1 own flower | 1 |
Total multipliers: 2
That is Liong Van, so 4x.
Step 5: multiply and round
60 x 4 = 240p
Round up to the next 10:
240p
Quick check
- First you add up the points.
- Only then do you apply the multipliers.
- Only after that do you round up.
