Dead Hand

A visual overview of dead hand, correcting too late, and invalid tjok.

When a hand becomes dead

  • Counting error in the hand
  • Flower not replaced
  • Incorrect straight, poeng, or kong remains in place
  • Old mistake discovered too late

Valid and invalid counting

Quick reading rule

  • The most common dead hand is an error in the number of tiles.
  • Old mistakes are not reopened after play has visibly continued.
  • Invalid tjok is not a valid win; play stops immediately, but the other 3 players may still settle.
