Round Wind and Jongh
How round wind and jongh run through the session.
The source treats prevailing wind not only as a point term, but also as a game cycle. To avoid confusion, this page uses round wind for that cycle and prevailing wind for the wind that is active in that cycle.
Main rule
The cycle runs in this order:
East -> South -> West -> North
Each wind prevails for one round. Only after all players under that wind have been jongh does the round wind move on to the next wind.
Jongh
The source says:
- East is jongh
- as long as jongh wins, jongh stays on turn
- if someone else wins, the player to the right of the previous jongh becomes the new jongh
Limmen
Limmen is the term for staying jongh (East).
With limmen, jongh therefore stays with the same player, but that repetition is not treated as a running pot.
End of the game cycle
With the end of the round wind North, the full game cycle is finished.
Effect at the table
This means that 2 different wind concepts are active at the same time:
- your
own windat the table - the
prevailing windof the current round wind
That difference later matters for points and multipliers.
Quick check
- Jongh stays as long as jongh wins.
Limmenmeans staying jongh (East).- The round wind moves on only after all players under that wind have been jongh.
- The full cycle ends after
